Injured After The BattleAfter the fierce brawl in the previous fight, the victorious Dzhabar shared, "My fight against David, I think it was my hardest hardest fight. It was a difficult fight. Next fight is going to be much better. I want to say thank you to David for a good fight. He showed good heart." As a result of the viciousness of the fight, Dzhabar had received a deep cut on his head that required stitches. He said that he hoped it would be better by the time of his next fight. Pitu asked Dzhabar whether it had been a difficult fight. Dzhabar responded, “Sometimes I feel bad, sometimes I feel good. Good because it’s a difficult fight, bad because I think I’m going to lose. Next fight for sure is going to be much better.” In The LoftIn the Tiger Kings’ room, the men from both teams were discussing the match. Zidov said, “It was a crazy fight man!” He then added animatedly that there was a lot of blood gushing out of both of their wounds. He said that personally he felt Dzhabar only won by a miniscule margin. Watching the Tiger Kings’ faces during the match, he knew they were thinking the same thing. Soren agreed with this in his interview as he said that though he felt that the fight was good, he did not think that Dzhabar won. Instead, he believed David had won. He added that, unfortunately, it was quite common in the sport that the spectators would see the fight differently from the way the judge's viewed it. However, in the end it always boiled down to the judges. Dzhabar entered the room with his head bandaged up from his stitches. The men cheered for him and congratulated him with a "good job" and "well done." Dzhabar told the men, “I fell like it was the first time I fought in my life; I think I had too much confidence. I was thinking it was going to be an easy fight. “John Wayne, his team captain commented, "Dzhabar was upset with his performance; I think a little bit disappointed. However we are very happy that Dzhabar won the fight. Although a lot of the men felt that David won, the Tiger Kings specifically were contended with the fact that their team had yet another one in the bag. Now, there was only four of the Wild Boars’ left in comparison to the six Tiger Kings. Training Gets TougherYukay said that finally, he felt a change in the energy during training and his batteries charging. He noticed that there were only four fighters left: himself, Zidov Zach and Pitu. “I got a little more time to train a little extra. Yup, I’m ready.” During training, Zach nursed his dislocated shoulder as one of the trainer’s massaged medicated oil over his injured shoulder. His trainer suggested that he took some muscle relaxes to relieve the pain as Zach groaned in pain. He shared, “I think they will pick me pretty soon to fight because of my shoulder. I’ve hurt my shoulder before. I tried not to show my sign of weakness to the boys so they don't know where to hit but it’s easier said then done. I think being in the competition with the least number of fights, the think that I’m probably not experienced in the ring and not as hard as the rest of the boys but I will give my best shot.” Challenge At The BeachBoth teams assembled for their next challenge by the beach. Jaymee reminded the Wild Boars that they had not only lost the last four challenges but also their third captain. It was now time for them to announce their fourth captain. Immediately Zidov was pushed forward. He said in his interview, “I feel proud that I’m the new team captain and I want to change the luck for the team. I feel this is an important thing.” Jaymee then explained the challenge to the men. They had to perform Muay Thai kicks and punches to destroy watermelons. One by one they had to swim in the water to retrieve a plaque and run back to destroy their watermelon according to instructions written on their plaque. After everyone in the team had gone through the race, they had to take their team flag and place it into the sand. Due to the fact that the Tiger Kings had two extra men, Dzhabar sat out because of the cut on his forehead and Zach sat out as well. The men got into position and prepared themselves for the challenge. Yukay and Yodsaenklai went first. Although Yukay had an initial lead, Yodsaenklai managed to get ahead on the way back. Yukay punched and Yodsaenklai kicked in one try. Next was Pitu who swam past Sean and got a big lead for the Tiger Kings. It seemed that the Tiger Kings might win for the fifth time. Dzhabar shouted from the shore, “Ok hurry up! Hurry up!” Jaymee shouted, “Go! Go! Go!” Both Pitu and Sean had to punch the watermelons. Soren had a huge lead in front of Naruepol when they started, however at the end it took Soren two kicks to smash the watermelon. Finally, the two captains went head to head. Though John Wayne had a big lead in front of Zidov, Zidov was the strongest swimmer in the competition and he managed to overtake John Wayne. He rushed onto shore and managed to destroy the watermelon with one kick. Due to the pressure of wanting to win again, it took John Wayne a couple of tries to punch and destroy the watermelon. In this time the Wild Boars had placed their team flag into the sand and won! They jumped and roared in happiness of finally redeeming themselves after four successive losses. Finally, the balance was starting to tip as they finally got to decide who would be competing in the next fight. For their reward, Jaymee said that they had "the coolest one yet." They got the chance to take Jaymee out for cocktails and dinner at the Fullerton Hotel. In a display of their happiness, Zidov danced around his team comically. She explained that it used to be the home of the Singapore General Post Office until it was transformed into the Fullerton building and today it was one of the most luxurious hotels in Singapore. This heightened the excitement for the Wild Boars as they retreated back to the loft and got ready for their night out. Rewarding Themselves At Fullerton HotelDecked up in their best formal clothes, they had their dinner at the balcony of the hotel with a perfect view of Boat Quay. Naruepol explained, "After winning the challenge, our reward as to go to the Fullerton hotel. It was a six star hotel. It was so posh. The victory for my team was great. You can’t buy happiness like this.” They looked truly contented that things had finally turned around in their favor and it was time for them to enjoy their reward they duly deserved. They settled into their dining table and were served by waiters. Jaymee commented that Zidov swam his hard out and Sean added that they knew he was a strong swimmer hence they put him last. Zidov explained that there was pressure on him as he was the team captain and they had lost many times. He did not want to lose again and instead wanted to help his team win. He said he did his best although he was very tired. In his interview he added, “We got back the power, we're back in the game I was happy that we won.” Jaymee then asked who was chosen to fight from their team. Zidov said that they had planned for Zidov to fight first and Yukay to fight next. She then enquired on who his opponent would be. To this Zidov responded, “Pitu is a good friend, always nice to me and tries to help me.” He added that on the other hand Zach was a friendly guy as well. Thus it was not easy to choose and he could not decide. Jaymee then raised a toast for the best man to win and congratulated them again on their win during the challenge. Tiger Kings Enjoy A Self-Made RewardInitially, Yodsaenklai was all dressed up just for fun. This sparked an idea in Pitu to cook for his team. He told them to cheer them up and that he wanted them to dress up for the dinner. In that case, they would make their own reward at home. Immediately Pitu and John Wayne started cooking up a storm in the kitchen. Pitu shared that his three passions in his life were his son, Muay Thai and Spanish food and added that his cooking was delicious. The men were excited, as they got ready for their big dinner. Zach commented that the Tiger Kings were not all about fighting and training but about friendship and being there for everyone. The table was set nicely for everybody as they drank wine and ate great food. They went around and gave speeches to the team. Zach said, "It is a pleasure to be in the team. We're all friends." Yodsaenklai said whether they won or lost they were still friends. Soren said in his interview that they would be friends for the rest of their lives it was bigger then the competition. After the sentimental moments, they sat down to enjoy their own reward provided by Pitu the master chef. Who’s Fighting Zidov?Stephen said congratulated the Wild Boars again for winning. He added that it was a good start for their new captain. Finally the moment had arrived and Zidov had stepped forward as the fighter from his team. He then chose Zach to fight against him. He explained in his interview, "Why fight Pitu when I can fight Zach? Why choose a friend when he can choose the other guy?” He said that he wanted to bring the Wild Boars closer to the Tiger Kings in terms of points. “I just want to go out of the ring as winner,” he said. Zach said that he was the only Singaporean there and he was the only one representing Singapore. He said that when his name was called he thought to himself, “Finally, this is it. I’ve got to fight in front of my home crowd. I think it's going to be an amazing to fight.” On a side note, Pitu said that when it was announced that Zach would fight that week, he knew he would be fighting Yukay the following week. He said comically that it was great as it would give him another week to lose weight! As the left the training area, John Wayne joked, "Let's get out of these wet clothes and into a dry martini!" Appointment at Toni & Guy Hair SalonZidov shared that days before his fight, he liked to go for a hair appointment. His wish was granted as they men were brought to Toni & Guy Hair Salon to get the new hairstyles they desired. As they were getting their hair done, Soren and Zidov had a chat about the upcoming fight. Soren asked, “Feeling good?” Zidov responded, “Feeling good. A little nervous.” Soren then said that the crowd was good but it was going to be totally Singaporean. This could go against him as well. Zidov said that everyone would want him (referring to Zach) to win and would be cheering for him. Soren then consoled him by saying that despite this he had nothing to worry about. Zidov added that he had nothing to lose. Whether he won or lost he was lucky enough to have the opportunity to train in the competition. Soren said in his interview, “Zach is from Singapore, the competition is in Singapore and the crowd is going to be Singaporean. In a way it could work in his favor. But I feel Zach is going to crack under all the pressure.” Soren said that he did not want either Zidov or Zach to go home. When the hairstyles were complete, Naruepol said that Zidov's haircut was beautiful. Zidov said that with his new haircut he felt good and ready to fight and he hoped the crowd would like it. Dzhabar said that, "He is a crazy person and he always has a surprise for us. Without him the house is going to be quiet and not interesting.” The hairdresser told Zidov, “I hope you win.” Dzhabar standing nearby jokingly added, “He's fighting against my team you know.” They shared a laugh and all the men left with funky new hairdos. Newton Food Court.Zach decided to bring the Tiger Kings out for a local dinner. John Wayne said, "Zach took us for a Singapore feast." While enjoying their scrumptious looking meal, he asked Zach what his game plan was. Zach jokingly said, “I will sting like a stingray, get it? Get it?” As they laughed, John Wayne played on by saying, "A better joke would be to say Crikey!" After they settled down, Zach in all seriousness said that he would keep his distance to see what Zidov would do in round one or two and to avoid getting into silly mistakes. John Wayne said, "I think the first two rounds are the most dangerous rounds because I don’t know how fit he is going to be. Just use your hands. You got to reach out in your punches and your kicks. Don’t stop. Any punches block him." Yodsaenklai added, "Zidov doesn’t have anything that you should be afraid of. I watched him train and there's noting in his artillery that's better than you." John Wayne added in Thai for Yodsaenklai’s benefit, “Zidov is crazy!” Yodsaenklai responded "If he's crazy, keep him away with your reach." John Wayne continued in Thai, “By round 4 and round 5, Zidov will have nothing.” Zach said, “I just don't want to get caught in silly mistakes. I’m just going to play my game. I don’t want to get carried away in his game." In his interview he said that he felt great to know that everyone was on his side. “This is it finally, I’m going to put the effort in. I’m going to make this count,” he said. John Wayne said the advice they're giving was due to the fact that Zidov was a stronger fighter. Furthermore they knew that he was a bit of a ‘nut.’ He said, “He's going to come up in 100 miles an hour and try and knock Zach out. Zach is going to try and keep his cool and come out the winner.” The men toasted their drinks to Zach and the Tiger Kings. Zach said in Thai “cheers!” 30 Minutes To The FightOver in the Wild Boars corner, Zidov said, "When I was young I was fighting a lot in the streets with bad company, If I did not start Muay Thai, I would be either in jail or dead. Thai boxing changed my life completely. I do this for me and my family. Maybe for the first time in my life I do something right and I want my family to be proud of me.” The trainer told Zidov, “Always keep your hands up when you throw up a punch.” Zidov said, "A new team captain is going in the ring, there are no captain hunters. I want to break this grudge. I want to show my best in the ring, I want to give 150 percent.”His trainer gave him more advice and tips, "In Muay Thai this (elbow) is very dangerous." Zidov said, “Zach's scared because I’m a crazy fighter. He doesn't know how I fight. He's going to be shocked in the first two three rounds.” Stephen then told him to give his best and reminded him that there would not be many Wild Boars out there and that it was up to him to ensure that they did not lost another captain. To which Zidov replied, “I think it's alright. I’m neutral, I’m Switzerland.” Clad in his yellow flower garland he got ready for the match. His last words before the bout were "I’m going to use all my power. If I have to stand on one leg, I’m going to continue this fight. This is a chance of a lifetime. I’m going to fight for my life." Back with the Tiger Kings, the trainer told Zach, “Your rhythm is much better. Don’t be afraid. Let him come to you.” Zach said, “I've been doing Thai Boxing since I was 16, all this training is finally coming down tonight. This is just a drama come through.” He added, “There's nothing like fighting at home. It really does motivate you in the fight. That’s going to give me the edge over Zidov.” John Wayne echoed the trainers sentiments and told Zach to bide his time and not to get overly angry or even aggressive against Zidov. Zach then said "He’s got good character and good heart, but I’m the hometown boy and I’m going to finish him off and send him home." Stephen then went to Zach and placed the traditional Muslim garb on his head. Stephen then said, "It's a full house out there; it's going to be all Singapore tonight. You're going to win tonight and you're going to make history. You're already a superstar in the town but you're going to be a ‘mega mega superstar’. Let the lion city hear you out there. “To which Zach replied, “I’m just going to do my best, do Singapore proud and do myself proud. I’ve come a long way and this is the biggest and best opportunity to show the world what I have." Fight TimeThe men entered the ring to a cheering crowd. They then performed the ‘Wai Khru’ as the crowd cheered on the local boy, Zach. The Singaporean national flag was seen flying high in the air. During the Wai Khru, Zach stood from afar and pretended to shoot an arrow at Zidov, but he playfully misses and inched closer to Zidov and pretended to shoot Zidov yet again, before Zidov snatched the pretend arrow and broke it into two pieces. This ignited fits of cheering and laughter from the audience. Round OneThey started of slow and Zidov who managed to deliver a hard blow straight at Zach’s face simultaneously blocked Zach’s kicks. Zidov then tried to corner Zach with a host of punches but Zach recovered and got out of it and retaliated by punching Zidov hard on the face. Zach then successfully blocked Zidov's punches but Zidov kept trying to get Zach stuck in corners but to no avail. He tried everything he could from grabbing Zach’s trailing leg and trying to topple him over to even kicks against Zach’s abdomen but nothing seemed to be working. Zach just stood back and absorbed everything Zidov threw out. Zidov fired repeated punches at Zach but Zach who seemed content with a rather defensive role in the first round of the bout duly blocked most of them. Towards the end of the round however, Zach suddenly awoke from his slumber and kicked Zidov hard on the face. The bell sounded before Zidov could even retaliate. They both went into their respective corners. In the Tiger King’s corner, Dzhabar told Zach, “Perfect! Perfect! Perfect! Very good! Very good!" In the Wild Boards corner we saw Sean telling Zidov to fight his own fight and to refrain from getting dogged into a technical bout. Sean also told him to work Zach’s head, as Zach did not like getting hit in the head. The trainer also told Zach to buy his time and reminded him that he was doing very well, looking sharp and boxing beautifully. Round 2The second round started off with Zach taking the initiative, throwing some fierce punches at Zidov. However in his haste to connect with a good punch and overly forcing out punches too fast for his body to handle, he dislocated his shoulder. The doctor had to come in to access the damage done to his shoulder and popped his shoulder back into place and allowed the fight to continue.Zach then started working Zidov with his punches again before Zidov finally connected with a punch of his own which landed right on Zach’s face. Zach then retaliated and kicked out at Zidov several times as Zidov scrambled and struggled to defend himself. Zidov then took charged and drove Zach around the ring and Zach dislocated his shoulder once again after his humerus bone popped out of his shoulder socket. This time the referee counted out till 8 before Zach got back up on his feet, willing to go through the pain barrier and carry on fighting. Try as he might, the pain proved to be unbearable as Zach conceded defeat and Zidov broke the Tiger Kings domination in the competition. The other men then entered the ring oblivious to what had happened and asked Zach, “What’s wrong?” Zach replied saying, “It just popped out.” Zidov then raised his hands in victory as he celebrated. John Wayne told Zach that in his opinion the first round and a half was his Zidov then said, "I’m happy I win but I’m sad because I didn’t like to win like this. Almost only two rounds and I cannot show my best. I’ll show some good things in the next fight. Injuries in fighting sport can happen all the time. I feel sorry for Zach because he trained so hard and then he had to lose the way he did. Zach, I hope you put your head up. I want to see you back again in the ring.” We then saw a dejected Zach nursing his shoulder, "Bad timing, why did it have to pop out tonight?" Zach explained, "it’s the first time it’s my left as well it’s my right that's dislocated.' John Wayne said, "For someone with only a half a dozen fights, your techniques are textbook. I’m so sad for ya.” Zach said that this was not the way he wanted to go out of the competition and that he really wanted to show he fought. He was heartbroken by the manner of his defeat. At this juncture, he broke down into tears feeling embarrassed, sad and cursed his bad luck. He then went on and hung the Singapore flag behind his mongkok. Through his sniffling, he said that he hoped people saw enough from the first round to notice that he was good fighter. Taking his last walk out of the arena, he bowed to the ring and parted company saying that, “This competition has been a dream come through but a dream that did not come to a very good end. It’s just unlucky for me and unlucky for Singapore. This is not the last that everyone will see of me, I’m going to come out stronger than before and people won’t forget Zach.” |
